Hangry for Peace

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 (NLT)

I’m an expert when it comes to choosing a restaurant. I’ve got the Open Table points and the thighs to prove it.

I’m not necessarily a “foodie,” but more a lazy mom who has a camp to feed and lacks the energy to call on my inner Betty Crocker to pull it together. I’ve learned that when my family is “hangry,” take-out or dine-in do the trick quicker than me in the kitchen at Camp Peters.

When my Brady Bunch is ready to eat – you better nail down the decision of where to go – fast. So, I’ve perfected the art of “name that restaurant.”

Side note: this DOES NOT apply to date nights with the hubs. Divorce attorneys have been on speed dial in the date-night choosing of the eating establishment. So let’s not go there. Ya’ll – it’s a thing!

Much like my crew of misfits, I bet you get “hangry” too.

In women’s ministry I get to listen and observe women in all seasons of life. One common thread, regardless of the season, is that we’re “hangry” for peace. Real peace.

We’re exhausted.

Overwhelmed.

Worried.

Broken and messed up.

We’re behind and it’s too late.

We’re juggling too much and dropping everything.

And we need peace.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 (NLT)

If you’re “hangry” for peace, the restaurant is always open, and the head chef remains on his throne.

No reservation needed.

Jesus picked up the tab.

Your table is waiting.
