A Different Kind of Overwhelmed
"I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works." Psalm 77:12b (NLT)
It’s the mantra of my life most days.
Overwhelmed.
Life is too much.
My to-do list is too long.
The laundry pile is too big.
The project list at work is endless.
The stack of bills is unending.
I’m overwhelmed.
What if we flipped the script and focused on a different kind of overwhelmed? What if we became overwhelmed by all that God has done in our lives, instead of the never-ending to-do list staring us in the face?
But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works. Psalm 77:11-12 (NLT)
Let’s stop thinking about all WE have to do, and start thinking more about all HE has done. It’s a lot more fun. I promise.
You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. Psalm 92:4 (NLT)
That to-do list will almost always be longer than we want.
That laundry pile – yep, it will keep piling up.
That project list at work – that’s a reminder of how much you’re needed where God has put you in your career.
And, those bills – they will be paid in due time.
For today, let’s focus on all that God has done. Let’s look back and recall His faithfulness.
It’s overwhelming to focus on all He has done – His sacrifice, His promises held true, and His faithfulness day-in and day-out.
That, my friend, is overwhelming.
